Avalon Stained Glass School & Creativity Center Presents Illustrated Watercolor journaling 5 exciting, fun filled days of learning, sight seeing and making new friends. Whether you have ever drawn, painted or written anything or whether you have ever Considered that you might want to then this exciting workshop is for you. Over the years we have discovered that some amazing things happen when we record our life this way and we want to share the “know-how” with you. We will teach you the ease of capturing your travels, explorations or the adventures of your daily life with drawing pencils and watercolors. In the speed of today’s world we tend to try and capture everything with our cameras and cell phones. We will teach you that water color journaling will help you to learn how to slow down and really see the world around you as you capture nature and the “happy accidents” of life. Watercolor journaling allows you to really notice the small details of your surroundings. As you draw the sights, smells and even the sounds that you write about, journaling allows you to take a breather from life and really see. Journaling truly slows time down and since drawing and writing tend to work from the right side of your brain, you can lose track of time while you capture life’s little moments. As you learn to journal, you will have a precious visual journal of your life — or some parts of your life to show to others — your family, your children, your friends. Or you will have a record just for you — it is easy to close the page of your book and keep it to yourself! Can’t think of what to draw? Each day at this wonderful workshop we will show you not only what to draw or paint, we will show you how easy it is to draw and paint sketches such as the sketches done for the artist’s “The Spanish Sketchbook or the 4 Amigos go to Spain.” Here are some of the things you are going to learn. Learn different ways of seeing Left versus right brain drawing exercises Different ways of sketching, sighting, contour and quick sketch Lettering/heading techniques Fresh and quick color techniques Basic color theory, color wheel, primaries, secondary, complementary and neutrals Watercolor tricks and techniques Ideas to help get your own journal or theme journal started This workshop is perfect for the person who says “I can’t draw a straight line” as well as the experienced artist who is looking for some new techniques to expand their art world. All materials will be supplied to you, plus all instruction. In this class we experiment with new ways of playing with your journal. The mornings are spent working from 9 am to noon CT. The afternoons are spent sight seeing the areas tourist attractions where you will easily find photos (either from your camera or post cards) and “copy” or information for your journaling the next morning. We’ll have all sorts of things to play with: old magazines, pens, watercolors, stamps, various mediums, and crayons – lots of things to add texture to your pages. There will be lots of time to create and explore… About the instructor, Arlene Wright-Correll OUR 5 DAY VACTION WATERCOLOR JOURNALING WORKSHOP begins on Tuesday and continues through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm CT.
