This weekís Kentucky artist is Kellie Diamond By Arlene Wright-Correll
It is always a pleasure to meet people who live by design. One such person is Kellie Diamond who lives in Bonneville with her partner, Tim Brelig and their 3 year old sons Ari and 6 year old Max on their 114 acre farm, “Falling Springs Flowers” which they started in 1994. Here in an extremely peaceful and serene setting she and Tim raise 1 Ω acres of flowers the bouquet and cut flower market in Louisville. It is also here that she raises two active and charming sons; helps build their home, raise their food, and tend flocks of goats, geese and ducks. A busy life, but one chosen by design! It is also here that during the slowed down fall and winter months, Kellie gets to do what she loves. Paints! Born in Cincinnati, Kellie Diamond has lived in Southern California, Minneapolis, Philadelphia and Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. These diverse travels, plus being fortunate to have a mother who was an art educator and artist, Kellie has been drawing and painting from a very young age. Graduating from Swarthmore College with a Bachelors Degree in Art and Art History, she studied with Philadelphia artists Brian Meunier, Joyce Nagata and Randal Exon. She also spent 1 Ω years studying pottery win Minneapolis artist, John Heck. Pottery is her second love. Kellie says she has great love for both oil painting and pottery. She loves the tangibility and process of the clay when making pottery and the colors and broad strokes of oil when she does a painting. Since Kellieís life involves living close to the land and to nature, it is only natural that her paintings reflect the land and nature. In 1998 Kellie was featured in an article in Glamour Magazine and her work has been shown in Minneapolis, Philadelphia and across Kentucky. She has received many awards and acclaim. Many of her paintings are in private collections throughout the USA. Kellie Diamond may be reached at 270 524 8478 for appointments to view her art which is for sale at her studio.
