The Poetry Corner column was conceived when our good friend, of many years, Dick King, sent me a copy of Rudyard Kipling's poem The Story of Ung.

Dick, a retired conservation officer, contantly amazes me by spouting whole verses of various poems out of the clear blue.

We had been speaking of the art of story telling and how some artists manage to tell a whole story with one painting.

One of the nicest Christmas gifts we ever received was from Dick and Alice. A lovely copy of Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass."

So here's to you Dick... we will publish yours or any of our reader's favorite poems any time they are sent to us. Here is a chance to share your favorites old or new by dead or live poets as long as we do not infringe on any copyright laws. Dick past away at the age of 73 March 27, 2008. He will be greatly missed.

We will even create a special page and publish the ones fledgling poets write.
