Who's Who in Arts and Crafts©

This week’s Kentucky artists are Frank and Ora Riherd
Art blooms whenever and wherever a seed is planted and the seed for Frank and Ora Riherd of Glasgow, KY was planted when their beloved daughter passed away leaving behind all the remnants of her talents which include a lot on stained glass equipment and glass.
Last year Frank called upon Avalon Stained Glass School and asked Carl Correll whether or not he thought that Frank and Ora could make use of all this equipment and stained glass. He was told it was very easy to learn and Frank and Ora came to the school as a husband and wife team and together learned all the steps of making a stained glass panel.
They created a lovely piece of stained glass art and left. Early this year Frank and Ora stopped by the school to show Carl some of the other pieces of stained glass art they have created. They also showed him the test panel they created that would be leading them into a new project of making beveled stained glass inserts for their front door.
I am sure that Frank and Ora do not consider themselves artists, yet they are. Each time they create something new it will always be considered a work of art. A few are born with talent, but many aren’t yet those people who take the time and effort to learn how to create art and keep practicing it become artists whether they intend to or not.
So Frank and Ora, we welcome you into the art scene and hope you have a good time doing what you seem to be enjoying with stained glass.
