Meet Kentucky Artist Arlene Moorman

It is not too often I run into another Arlene and when I have she has not been an artist. However, this time she was and I was delighted to visit with Arlene Moorman of Bowling Green, KY.

Arlene is a native of Indiana who was raised in Davis and Muhlenberg Counties in KY. She was a special Ed teacher who lived in CA for a long time; she is also the author of "Encore Poetry".

Recently widowed in March of 2006, Arlene decided to aid her grief by taking up painting. She discovered she loved working with acrylic paints and cloth. Many of her paintings have an African theme and are loaded with bright and beautiful colors.

It did not take long for Arlene to decide this was the new career for her and with a lot of enthusiasm she jumped in with 2 feet and opened up Arlene’s Art Studio & Gallery at 823 Fairview Ave., Bowling Green, KY 42101.

Since Arlene is full of life and enthusiasm one can expect her studio to be alive, and it is, not only with her works of art, but with other artists she features each month and gallery art that can be used in home décor plans.

She is currently involved in helping to create the first annual Bowling Green Gallery Hop that will feature art studios and galleries on different Fridays during 2008. The tentative schedule for this year is Friday, Feb. 29, Friday, May 2, Friday August 8 and Friday Dec. 12. So watch for these special events that includes refreshments and a shuttle to the different galleries and studios.

Currently her studio is open by appointment only, so call 270 779 2164 and Arlene will be delighted to set up a time at your convenience to meet her at the gallery and be prepared to spend some time there as there is lots and lots to see and the prices are good! Arlene says, "This is where the "Where colors and canvas collide." However, the website is just a teaser as the gallery is loaded with all kinds of art!
