I think it was in March 1999 I started a portrait of Carl on a 16″ x 20″ canvas frame. I drew it out and did the background in oils. We were in FL. for the winter visiting Donna and her family and Andrew, who was about 5 or 6 then, upon arriving home said, “Oh you are doing a painting of Opa.” That was as far as I ever got with in. Then in February of 2008 I started thinking about it again since I kept coming across it in my art studio and thought about doing a caracature of him with stained glass eye glasses. Well on Feb. 4, 2009, I got out the painting and decided to finish it in acrylics and 4 hours later I finished it to my satisfaction and Carl is delighted. It is called, “Portrait of a Stained Glass Artist”.

We have had temperatures in the mid to high 60′s for the past few days and it is welcomed.

We spent a nice day with George and Barbara on this past saturday. We all went to P.F. Changs for lunch. Carl treated us all to my birthday outing. We could not go for several days because Louisville was out of power and water during that time. None of us realized how devastating the ice storm was in our surrounding area. Just about every tree has some kind of damage and for miles and miles, no matter where we drove, the tops were off thousands of trees. Many were taken right out of the ground.

Carole Dalphin sends us this chuckle. A blonde woman was speeding down the road in her little Red sports car and was pulled over by a woman police Officer who was also a blonde. The blonde cop asked to see the blonde drivers license. She dug through her purse and was getting progressively more agitated. What does it look like? she finally asked.

The policewoman replied, Its square and it has your picture on it. The driver finally found a square mirror in her purse, looked at it and handed it to the policewoman. Here it is, she said.

The blonde officer looked at the mirror, then handed it back saying, Okay, you can go. I didnt realize you were a cop.

We hear from our PA relatives…Hi Aunt Arlene,
Hope all is well after your storm…
Howard and I both enjoyed this week’s home farm news letter. Howard especially liked Carol’s email about Lee Iaccoco–Howard read the book and it blew him away! Unfortunately the book was in our camper when it was in storage and broken into. The funny thing was that it was stolen along with the Playstation 2 that we never used but kept in there for a rainy day! Go figure!
We’re doing well–Howard said to tell you that possum living is quite appealing to these Busch’s these days!!!
Tell everyone “hello” for us!
Take care,
Love,
Annette and Howard
