"The Wall Paper Gig"

by Mary Converse

Arlene, I have a great memory of when you and I were in the papering business. We went to Gary Gittleson's house. He wanted an estimate on how much we would charge to do his bathroom. You said "$200." and I said "Oh my God". When you got me outside you told me never to open my mouth again when you gave a quote. The end of the story is, we did get the job. Ten foot ceilings and matched paper. We earned every cent of that $200. If you remember, we both had very young children with us while we were trying to work.

We did have so great times together. You and Carl worked so hard on the stone house on the Middle Road and then to loose it all to fire. Character building and no one will ever deny that you are a character.

Love, Mary

Editor's note:  Mary, I sure do remember that. That was a lot of money back in 1968!  But I also remembered that he hired us again and we did his hall way and stair way and hung by our toenails down that 36 ft. stair well!

storytelling:   "Stories Remembered and Passed On"is a place where we can share memories with each other. Folklore and storytelling need not get lost in our busy lives nor should it be left only to the "ancients."

It need not be long or thought worthless. Even short stories have an impact of bringing forth other memories from our readers who may be prompted to share something with us.

You can add as many stories as you like.  We will give you each a title and a page that can grow and grow. You may eventually wind up with a whole book for your family. One never knows.

You may email your story to us at info@learn-america.com   We hope to hear from you soon.

You can write just one or as many as you want. As long as we have the room we will keep publishing them.

"Tread the Earth Lightly" and in the meantime… may your day be filled with….Peace, light and love,

Arlene Correll
