Do it Yourself Entertainment need not be expensive. Here are some entertainment tips.

1. Form a wine tasting club or invite your friends to an inexpensive wine tasting. Either way, alert your guests that there will be a nominal fee per person. Usually, $10.00 per head will cover 10 wines. Serve crackers and lots of water between tastings.

2. Join or start a gardening club or herb club in your area. They are lots of fun and you get to meet lots of people.

3. Start or join a local book club. You will be amazed how many people enjoy books. Lots of time you may have to be the leader in any of these activities, but someone has to start them.

4. If you play a musical instrument, then find a local musican's club. None in your area? Start one. All these types of announcements will usually be placed in your local newspaper for free. This is great family entertainment and children are usually encouraged to take up instruments by others who are willing to show them how. Most of these attendees bring a covered dish and their own beverages and it usually turns out to be an exciting afternoon or evening.

5. Like cooking? But no one to cook for now that the kids have left the nest. There are plenty of people in your area with gourmet tastes and no one to share them with. Link up with them by announcing a cooking or candle light dinner club being formed. You can all assess yourselves a nominal fee and meet once a month at a different members home. The fees go to cover the expenses of preparing the dinner. A helpful hint. Have each member bring their own dish, glass and silverware and take them home with them also. Saves a lot of wear and tear on that evening's host or hostess.

6. Like Movies? New or old. Get a group of friends together for movie watching and discussion afterwards, once a month or once a week. Different hosts pay for the movie and the snacks. Rotate around.
