Why is it only now while close to fifty this child reappears

laughing and playing within this heart now grown to middle years?

I left that child so long ago when there was no time for play.

She sat within my soul knowing I would call to her another day.

Now when I grow tired of being so grown-up and acting old, she returns to laugh with me, changing this heart from gray to glitter gold.
