Well here we are at the end of another year. 2008 will soon be gone and just a memory and 2009 will bring us hopefully whatever we work hard at getting or avoiding.
This past Saturday it got up to 72 degrees and today it was about 44. Crazy weather! We took advantage of yesterdayís warmth and went to Louisville and walked around to several galleries in old town. It was lovely especially seeing all the people walking around on the sidewalks etc. We woke up to 44 degrees on Sunday morning.
We just received an email from Rosie Hays and she is back from visiting her mom in Germany, who really was on her deathbed. I am sharing Rosie’s letter and her mom’s miracle recovery.
“and it seems time just flew.
But it was good I went. Nobody expected mother to recover, as a matter of fact, the very first thing the Drs. told me when I got there was to tell my Dad that there was no hope. I could not do that, Dad was clinging to hope and it helped him in living through the ordeal from day today.

My parents are both 84, mother bumped into a corner cabinet and it caused interior bleeding, which required surgery to clean up, not a big deal, but this sort of kicked loose a whole avalanche of trouble. Mother has been in Intensive Care for 9 weeks, hooked up to every apparatus found in those places. the worst came when the Drs. told Dad there was no hope. I don’t know if it was good that I was there and he was not alone. It was tough. those two have walked hand in hand for 62 years.

Lots of people prayed for mother. The turn for the better came when i asked the Dr. if I could give her some beer, with an eyedropper maybe. Mother loves beer and after all, what could it hurt, they had given up on her. I just wanted her to get the taste into her mouth. The first couple of sips I don’t think she could taste at all. but a few days after that she drank a whole bottle, then she was able to hold the sippy cup herself, then she was taken off dialysies, her kidneys were working again. As of now she is off all the life supports machinery, she is sitting up for several hrs at a time, since Christmas she can talk again when the breathing tube was removed from her trachea. today she fed herself. the nurse cut her food up for her of course, but she wielded the fork.

It was a very streneous month of December. and the first time Kristina and I spent Christmas eve in a bar in Munich. My sister had kept the place open, there are so many lonely people and that evening is the big thing in Germany, you should not be alone on Christmas eve, except that Dad wanted to be alone on purpose. all in all it was nice, my sister had played old Christmas songs all day and kept the cookie platters filled for her regulars. Next day Kristina took me to the airport. so here I am, a little frazzled, a little jet lagged.

hope things went well for you all, too late to wish you merry Christmas, but I sure wish you a healthy and prosperous new year.
while I was gone one of the sheep had twins. and so it goes,
take care
Rosie

PS
mother’s beer is different from what you know. she likes an unfiltered Weissbier that has the yeast in it, which of course is a powerhouse of B Vitamins, and of course, there are no additives of any kind, it is pure and natural.

I found out that the blood thinner that mother has been taking for close to 20 years basically destroys the blood vessels, they get weak and permeable. There are alternatives, but they cost more. the stuff she has been taking is called Macomar or something like that, I do not know how it is spelled. it is too late, but I wonder if she had not taken that medication if the whole episode would not have happened. the old story, what you don’t know can hurt you. ”
We are very happy for Rosie and her story tells us that there is always hope and many times a natural cure may be more helpful than harmful.
