by Arlene Wright-Correll

This weekís artist is Anne Porter Elliot

Anne Porter Elliott of Stamping Ground, KY has been producing finely crafted, decorative and functional hand-thrown pottery for about 15 years. She also creates Altered Stoneware and Raku vessels.

Anne said she learned how to do this in high school and went on to become a photographer for 10 years, living the Bohemian life, before she seriously started to think about being a teacher of pottery.

She earned her Bachelors degree with a dual major in Visual Art and Environmental Studies from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and later studied ceramics at the Louisiana State University.

Anne is a juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen and Kentucky Craft Marketing Program. She teaches pottery classes at the Thornhill Learning Center in Frankfort, at Kentucky Mudworks in Lexington and at Artworks at the Cardome Center in Georgetown.

Anne participates at the craft fairs throughout Indian and Kentucky and she can be found at Franciscoís Farm in Midway, the Woodland Park Art Fair, Cherokee Triangle, Broad Ripple Art Fair and Talbot Street Art Fair. Many galleries throughout Kentucky display her wonder pottery works of art.

You can reach Anne at 502 695 7713 or email her at aelliott@qx.net to find out what her workshop schedules are for the upcoming 2009 year.
