Art isn’t just about teaching someone to paint or draw, create stained glass or fused glass art. It isn’t about teaching someone how to dance, write or play a musical instrument. It is really about simulating creativity and that is what we do at Avalon Stained Glass School & Creativity Center.
Avalon Stained Glass School & Creativity Center offers many stained glass workshops that are “budget friendly”.

STAINED GLASS CRAFTING is easy to learn. You do not have to be an artist; you only need to be “good with your hands” and have “an eye for detail”. A good sense of humor and a little patience will get you through this course just fine.
Carl Correll; our award winning, master stained glass artisan; will teach you and guide you though the course. His goal is for you to produce a finely crafted project and to have as much fun as possible while you are doing it.
Most studios teach glass crafting by having you make a little sun catcher and then sell you expensive tools and equipment to go on to larger projects. Very little time and effort is spent on skill or technique or trade secrets. This usually causes enthusiastic beginners to “burn out” in frustration.
SKILL AND TECHNIQUE, once learned, and a few simple tools, is all that are needed to produce project after project, simply and easily. Expensive grinders and cutting systems are absolutely unnecessary. Carl Correll will teach you all the skills necessary to make your completed project look as good as anything he produces in his studio. You will complete your project and this program with confidence to continue at home.
INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED level students may work with the instructor to custom-tailor their training program, designing a project that places an emphasis on improving skills and/or exploring new techniques. Advanced students may choose to develop three-dimensional design and fabrication skills by building a stained-glass lamp.

2011 STAINED GLASS WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
OUR 5-7 DAY VACTION WORKSHOP begins on Monday and continues through Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm. However, should you require a day or two extra to finish your project; you may have them at no extra charge. Most students finish in 4 to 5 days. The daily schedule allows for that. Classes begin promptly each day at 9 am until noon, break for lunch which is provided, return at 1 pm. until 5 pm, break for supper on your own and then you can rest for the evening or feel free to come back into the studio at 6 pm. and work up until 8 p.m.
CLASS SIZE is strictly limited to no more than four students to provide as much one-on-one training as possible. Each student will produce a well-crafted window/panel, approximately four square feet in size from one of our 14 “tried and true” patterns.
Each project should have 70-80 cut pieces of glass. Each panel will be an original custom design, reflecting the subject choice and taste of the student. When you are finished you will have a beautiful 4 sq. ft. panel that will grace your home and become a family heirloom.
ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE intensive training in glass design, pattern making, glass cutting, soldering and finishing techniques. Avalon’s goal is to help each student achieve a sustainable proficiency in each of the various technical skills required for stained-glass crafting.
YOUR WORKSHOP FEE INCLUDES most of the materials, glass and supplies you will use in your design. Occasionally, a student may choose some special components such as jewels, agates, or special glass that may cost a little extra.
YOU DO NOT NEED to buy any tools. Carl will provide the use of all tools necessary to complete your project. Once you have completed your project you will be far more knowledgeable about what few tools you really need to continue. Should you feel that this is the art form you wish to proceed in, then we can supply you with the best of what you will need to continue and we give all students a 10% discount on any kit they purchase on the last day of their workshop.
SHOULD YOU BE FROM AWAY AND FLEW IN we will pack up your finished panel and ship it to you at your cost at whatever shipping fee is charged by UPS plus a $7.95 boxing fee.
SHOULD YOU BE A STUDENT WHO DROVE IN we will pack it up for you at no extra charge so it will safely sit in your vehicle for your drive home.
